With first quarter coming to an end, some people wish to raise their grades before first semester exams. The best way to do that is to make good grades in the second quarter. Here are a few tips on how to raise/make better grades for second quarter.
Study longer: You might not have done well last quarter on your tests or quizzes. The best way to improve and to raise your test/quiz scores is to study. That may be very obvious, but many people just gloss over their study guide and call it a day. You should study for at least 30 minutes. If you are not improving or want to improve more, give yourself more study time. It is also a good idea to not just study the day before or the day of the test/quiz. You should give yourself at least 3 days to study before the test/quiz after you learned the subject/understand it.

Do your homework: I have heard from many kids/fellow students over the years that they do not do or do not do all of their homework because completing the homework gives very little points and it’s a waste of time. This may be true to an extent. The homework may not give you many points when completed, but not completing it can hurt your grade and zeroes/incompletes can start to impact your grade greatly. If you do complete your homework, you get an extra cushion if you do bad on a test or a quiz. Homework is also very easy points and can help keep your grade up. it best thing to do for homework is not to hold it off until the last minute. Homework can usually take 10 to 40 minutes so it’s definitely worth doing.

Extra credit: If your grades are still not where you want them close to the end of second quarter, extra credit can help push your grade just enough to reach your goal. Even though extra credit might not look worth it, sometimes these extra points can help your grade much more than you think. Some extra credit can be easy work, and one to five points. The ones that give more points, 15 to 30 points, can feel like busy work, but it can be totally worth it if you lock in, and it might just raise your grade by a few points.
