This year’s Fall Show, Frankenstein, directed by Chip Goff, with assistant directors Tammy Nicholas and Kaylee Stanford.
The show, starring Drew Prati, Elsa Precht, and Bella Clark, opens on November 5, and runs close to two hours. I can happily say that I am also in the cast of Fall Show this year as the father.
The show follows the story of Shelley’s 1818 novel, yet contributes a layer of emotional depth by including Mary Shelley herself as a character.
The set has intriguing design details, containing minimalistic setting choices and a mostly white set pieces.
Elsa Precht (‘27) stars in the show as “The Creature,” and she answered a few questions for us:
“This is definitely one of the hardest roles I’ve ever played. I’ve had to learn how to walk and talk completely differently than I usually do. I’ve also never played a character that’s so violent and sinister before, so that’s also been really fun to figure out.” Elsa said. Although the role is difficult, the junior is enjoying the challenge.
“I’ve really liked getting to find a new side to my acting,” Elsa said. “Outside of school, I usually tend to play comedic or romantic roles, so it’s been really fun to try something completely different.”
As a cast member of the cast, myself, I can say that the role is definitely difficult. I struggle to get into my character, and it is nothing like this.
“Learning how to really embody the monster has been REALLY hard. The monster has to do a lot of really physical acting and has to make some pretty weird noises, so finding a way to commit to those choices has definitely been a big learning curve for me. But now that I’m on the other side of that hill, it’s been really rewarding.”
Additionally, in conjunction with the difficulty of the role, the preparation for it has also been different.
“I watched a lot of other actors’ take on the monster, and, in the end, I really just had to experiment with playing the monster a million different ways, until I found something that felt right for this monster.”
From all of us at the Epistle and Fall Show, we cannot wait for you to come and enjoy our production!
Thank you!
